Donphan is een Pantserpokémon. Door zijn sterke slagtanden en zijn dikke huid is hij bekend om zijn krachtige tackle aanvallen en is hij sterk genoeg om een huis af te breken. Zijn huid is zo dik dat een normale aanval zelfs nog geen krasje veroorzaakt. Hij kan zich ook oprollen als een bal en hij lijkt dan op een rubber band. Hij houdt van truffels. Des te langer de slagtanden zijn des te hoger is zijn positie in de kudde. De slagtanden groeien erg langzaam.
